a christmas elf

The origin of the xmas elves

The elves originally come from Lappi.

Way up north where its cold and stormy, nature centuries ago has grown folk that are quick, verry intelligent and that has a bit of magic.

Due to mother natur that can be verry cruel and dangerous up North, it can be verry cold and bears and wolves are rather common, this folk stayed little. Their length gives them some advantages to survive. They can hide quickly in verry narrow caves and cracks in the earth. Even the smallest branch in a tree can be a refuge.

Their speed, intelligence and that touch of magic were noticed by Santa as he, long long ago was looking for a place to build his headquarters on the North Pole. Santa has since then a special place in his heart and asked them to come and live with him to build his workshop and work with him.

Many believe that elves are treated as slaves by Santa, but that is far from the truth. This little proud folk does not let any one bully or command them and most certanly wont do any thing they would not like. No, one has to see their relation as one of equality. And Santa does realise that and respects them for that.

Without the elves there wouldn't be xmas.

A special folk

For over hundreds of years this hard working folk is mentioned in books and many stories are told by men about them.

Next to the fact, one cant deny, that elves do look very special, they are small, thin (well at least those that could resist the candy and cookies) and have pointy ears, one could say; "they are magic".

The pointy ears of elves are not a result of Santa pulling them all the time, they developed in time to hear verry high tones and sounds comming from far far away.

These ears are not the only thing one can recognise an elf by, their colthes are as remarkable too. Elves do like to wear green and red clothes and a pointed hat.

Strong social aware

Although Bernard has an important job and is seen by men as the most important elf, he is far from that. Elves for sure, do have a strong social awareness of being equal. Every elf knows that every single one of them is important and sees them as equal. All have to work together to make Santas North Pole work. One can design a wonderfull toy, if there is no elf that chops the trees, if there is no elf that cuts them into planks, and no one carves it into pieces to make a toy and puts them together, there wont be any presents for christmas to give away.

Elves do know that they need every single one of them and that even the most complicate large machine will break down if one little screw is missing.

And above all they miss one nasty little twitch of humans, they dont want to rule over others. All elves are created equal.
